The Baptism Preparation is an evening session from 6:00 - 8:30 p.m.  It includes discussions of Catholic parenting and the Rite of Baptism.   This session is usually held on the first Tuesday of each month in church.  No advance registration is needed for this session.   Upcoming dates for this session are:    2012:  February  7, March 6, April 3, May 1.   If a morning session is needed because of evening work schedules, this can be arranged by calling the Faith Formation Office, 392-6700, ext. 110.

Were you baptized in the Catholic Church but never made your First Communion or Confirmation?  We invite you to join the Rite of Christian Initiation (R.C.I.A.) which begins in September of each year and normally prepares people to enter the Church at the Easter Vigil in the following Spring.  The process includes classes, a relationship with a sponsor, retreats, and rituals during Mass.  The entire process is intended to be a process of spiritual growth, as well as a process of learning about the Catholic Church. For more information

First Communion at St. Francis Parish is normally celebrated in the Spring of second grade; however preparation programs are also available for older children and teens.

The Sacrament of Reconciliation is available every Saturday at 4:00 p.m.

The baptism of a baby or small child is a wonderful and important celebration.  To prepare for baptism of an infant or small child, the parents need to do 3 things:

If children & teens are coming to the Catholic Church for the first time with their parents, the entire family  will be prepared to join our Church through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (R.C.I.A.) Process.  We look forward to meeting and getting to know all of you.  Please contact Marilyn Torborg, Director of Faith Formation, 392-6700, ext. 111 or mtorborg@stfrancisholland.org. so that an initial meeting can be set up and our process can be explained to you.

Q.  When is the best time to prepare for my child’s baptism?   A.  The best time to prepare for your baby’s Baptism is during the time you are anticipating your baby’s birth.  This will allow you time to focus on the preparation without worrying about childcare, feeding schedules, or other concerns.  It will also allow you to schedule the Baptism for soon after the baby is born, since you need to attend both sessions (Baptism Preparation & Covenant) prior to setting the date.    Q. How do I choose godparents for my child?    A.
